Ha dovuto toccare il fondo Enzo Ghinazzi, in arte Pupo, prima di riemergere e tagliare i ponti con il passato. La dipendenza dal gioco d’azzardo ha segnato, come uno spartiacque, la sua vita di prima – fatta di soldi, successo e fama – e la vita di oggi nella quale la famiglia, la musica e la televisione sono centrali. Lo ha raccontato lui stesso nel corso dell’ultima puntata di Oggi è un altro giorno, il programma di Serena Bortone su Rai Uno.
“Mi è toccato toccare il fondo, ero miliardario e a un certo punto ero indigente, non avevo più nulla. Questo dramma mi ha toccato, ma mi ha insegnato molto più del successo”, ha confessato Pupo. Una situazione che lo ha spinto verso il baratro della ludopatia, la dipendenza da scommesse e gioco d’azzardo, e che lo ha ridotto sul lastrico, tanto da spingerlo a pensare al suicidio.
Pupo shock, il racconto del tentato suicidio
Un episodio non inedito, già raccontato da Pupo in altre occasioni, ma che nonostante ciò ha scosso la conduttrice e gli ospiti presenti in studio: “C’è stato un momento in cui ho pensato di farla finita. Parcheggiai la mia Jaguar nella corsia di emergenza, era molto stretta, su un viadotto che collega l’Emilia Romagna e la Toscana. Avevo perso tutto invece di aver guadagnato qualcosa quella notte. Scesi dall’auto con l’intenzione di farla finita“.
Il gelo è calato nello studio e la conduttrice, Serena Bortone, ha esitato prima di chiedere all’ospite cosa volesse davvero dire “farla finita”. “Di buttarmi di sotto dal viadotto – ha chiarito Pupo – ma un camion, un tir, passò a mezzo millimetro dalla Jaguar e spostò con questa onda d’urto di vento la macchina e anche me e mi fece quasi cadere. E’ stato come se mi risvegliassi”.
Ci sono voluti anni prima di liberarsi dalla dipendenza, ma Pupo ha svelato di esserci riuscito anche grazie al sostegno di alcuni amici, volti noti della musica e dello spettacolo. Tra tutti Gianni Morandi.
Il cantautore bolognese, reduce da un brutto incidente in cui è rimasto gravemente ustionato, è stato uno dei pochi ad offrire il suo aiuto a Pupo nei momenti di difficoltà: “C’è stato un momento particolare in cui fu proprio Gianni Morandi ad aiutarmi. Di fronte a un mancato pagamento di un mio debito lo pagò personalmente”.
