Si è trattato di una morte orribile per lei, causata da un bagno fatale con acqua bollente. Ecco l’articolo riportato da Il Mattino in merito a questa brutta vicenda:
“La piccola Gracie aveva solamente 19 mesi, poco più di un anno e mezzo, quando sua madre ne ha provocato la morte. Lo ha stabilito la corte di Nottingham, che ha riconosciuto la colpevolezza di Katie Crowder, madre ventiseienne della vittima”.

Secondo quanto emerso dalle indagini, Katie Crowder, 26 anni, avrebbe messo la figlia Gracie, di soli 19 mesi, sotto il getto dell’acqua bollente della vasca da bagno, nella loro casa di Mansfield, nel Nottinghamshire inglese. Nonostante le urla di dolore e sofferenza della piccola, la madre ha atteso un’ora, prima di portare la bambina a casa dei nonni, nella stessa via, in condizioni disperate. Era il 6 marzo di quest’anno: quando la piccola è arrivata in ospedale poche ore dopo ormai era troppo tardi”.
I medici hanno dichiarato il decesso della bambina. Gracie riportava ustioni gravissime su almeno il 65% del corpo, scrive il Mirror. La ragazza si sarebbe precipitata a casa dei suoi genitori, urlando «è morta, è morta» in preda alla disperazione. Il processo nato dalla tragica vicenda si è concluso questo martedì”.
“Crowder si era dichiarata innocente, rifiutando l’accusa di omicidio e sostenendo che non avrebbe mai fatto del male alla bambina. Crowder si è difesa dicendo ai giudici che mentre la piccola era sotto l’acqua, lei stava ripulendo il «caos combinato dal nostro cagnolino». Una volta finito, avrebbe trovato la piccola priva di sensi in bagno”.
“Ma la corte non ha creduto alla sua spiegazione, sostenendo una diversa versione dei fatti. Gracie infatti è morta nel giro di un paio d’ore, non istantaneamente. Per i giudici, in quel tempo la madre aveva compreso che la figlia non sarebbe sopravvissuta, e si sarebbe costruita un alibi, ripulendo la scena del crimine prima di chiedere aiuto. Ad aggravare la situazione, i test tossicologici: nel sangue di Crowder infatti è stata ritrovata della cocaina, che sarebbe stata assunta poco prima della morte di Gracie“.
