«Se ci comporteremo secondo ragione, allora potremo permetterci più libertà a Natale, non sarà un Natale in solitudine».
Lo ha detto la cancelliera tedesca Angela Merkel in una conferenza stampa, oggi 2 novembre 2020, a Berlino, aggiungendo però restrizioni a fine anno: «Non credo che ci potranno essere grandi e rumorose feste di Capodanno».
«Abbiamo quattro mesi invernali lunghi davanti a noi». E «la luce alla fine del tunnel è abbastanza lontana» ha detto Merkel definendo l’emergenza coronavirus come «una catastrofe naturale».
Gli sviluppi, ha spiegato, non dipendono dalla politica.
Che ci siano dei risultati dal semi-lockdown scattato oggi in Germania «non dipende solo dalle regole, ma anche dal fatto che queste verranno rispettate», ha aggiunto.
Se la curva dei contagi si abbasserà, si potrà affrontare «dicembre, ovviamente ancora sotto regole del corona, ma con maggiori spazi di libertà». In caso contrario non esclude il prolungamento delle nuove restrizioni.

«La fascia a rischio per il Covid rappresenta fra il 30 e il 50% della nostra società. Non stiamo parlando di una piccola parte di una quota del 2%» ha specificato la cancelliera tedesca, difendendo le misure anti Covid dalle critiche degli scettici.
«La nostra società ha una grande fetta di persone anziane», oltre ai giovani con malattie pregresse. La cancelliera ha ribadito di non condividere l’idea di dover separare le fasce a rischio dal resto della società, «mentre gli altri festeggiano».
E ha aggiunto: «non è vero che non abbiamo strategie di lungo periodo».
Citando i test veloci, e la prospettiva dei vaccini, Merkel ha affermato che «progressivamente la protezione sarà sempre più efficace».
Merkel ha anche affermato che “si sa dove porta” una crescita esponenziale del virus. «Siamo il continente dell’Illuminismo. La matematica è importante», ha aggiunto.
Infine la cancelliera ha affrontato il confronto con la Svezia. La Merkel ha detto che non è un paese paragonabile con la Germania per la densità della popolazione su livello nazionale.
