Variante iraniana Padova, isolato il primo caso in Italia

Variante iraniana Padova – La corsa senza freni della variante inglese in Veneto – passata dal determinare il 17,6% dei contagi nella prima settimana di febbraio all’88,4% della quarta settimana dello stesso mese – non è purtroppo l’unica mutazione con la quale dover fare i conti. Certo, la predominante. Ma non l’unica.

Sono 21 i differenti profili di mutazione del Coronavirus identificati in Veneto dallo scorso novembre, nove dei quali in circolazione a febbraio di cui cinque mai descritti in Veneto in precedenza.

Emerge della seconda sorveglianza “Prevalenza delle varianti” condotta dall’Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie e coordinata dall’Istituto superiore di sanità. Come detto la variante inglese – e la sua elevata contagiosità – stanno spopolando in regione, ma non è tutto.

Variante iraniana Padova, c’è il primo caso in Italia

Due campioni prelevati tra fine gennaio e inizio febbraio nelle province di Padova e Venezia da pazienti appartenenti ad un singolo cluster di infezione appartengono alla variante brasiliana.

«Nessuno dei pazienti riportava recenti viaggi all’estero o contatti con pazienti provenienti dall’estero» si legge nel rapporto. Tale variante «si caratterizza per una maggiore trasmissibilità e una maggiore resistenza all’attività neutralizzante del plasma di individui guariti dall’infezione e del siero di individui vaccinati». E della mutazione brasiliana è stata riscontrata anche la variante “P.2”.

Oltre alla variante brasiliana, evidenzia lo Zooprofilattico, un campione prelevato in provincia di Venezia (nel territorio di competenza dell’Usl 4 Veneto Orientale) a febbraio, da un contatto con una persona positiva rientrata dalla Nigeria, è stata rintracciata la variante nigeriana. Tale mutazione, identificata in Veneto per la prima volta, è già stata isolata in precedenza in altre regioni: Campania, Emilia Romagna, Lazio e Piemonte.

Un altro campione, questa volta prelevato in provincia di Padova, ha permesso di identificare per la prima volta una mutazione molto rara individuata per la prima volta in Australia. Il paziente padovano che ha evidenziato tale variante era appena rientrato dall’Iran. A oggi, infine, non è stato individuato il profilo della variante sudafricana.

Nuove mutazioni «potranno generarsi» in Italia «o arrivare dall’estero», ma «chiudere completamente i confini riduce il rischio, ma non si può fare per sempre» ha sottolineato il sottosegretario alla Salute Pierpaolo Sileri. Ciò che serve, secondo il sottosegretario, «è rafforzare il sistema di monitoraggio mediante la genetica dei virus che troviamo sul nostro territorio».
