Troppo gravi le ustioni di terzo grado riportate al volto e alle mani. Patrizia Grimaz, che aveva compiuto 59 anni il 2 aprile, peraltro lo stesso giorno in cui avrebbe compiuto 46 anni Ermanno Germano, era stata ricoverata prima all’ospedale di Udine e poi trasferita a Genova.

Lo scontro tra la motocicletta condotta da Germano e l’auto guidata da Grimaz era avvenuto lungo la provinciale 78, a Mortegliano, all’intersezione tra le vie Talmassons e Cormor. La Ducati Monster guidata dal quarantaseienne stava sopraggiungendo dal centro. La donna al volante dell’utilitaria, invece, proveniva da Talmassons e doveva svoltare a sinistra.
L’impatto era stato violento, tanto che l’utilitaria aveva preso fuoco. Il conducente di una betoniera, il primo a prestare soccorso, aveva utilizzato l’acqua all’interno della cisterna per spegnere le fiamme, che avevano avvolto l’abitacolo.
