Chico Forti torna in Italia. E’ la fantastica notizia dell’ultim’ora riguardante il nostro connazionale in carcere in Florida da ormai 20 anni. AdnKronos riporta le parole del Ministro degli Esteri Luigi Di Maio che ha annunciato la notizia:
“Chico Forti tornerà in Italia”. E’ l’annuncio del ministro degli esteri, Luigi Di Maio. “Ho una bellissima notizia da darvi: Chico Forti tornerà in Italia. L’ho appena comunicato alla famiglia e ho informato il presidente della Repubblica e il presidente del Consiglio”, dice Di Maio su Facebook.
“Il Governatore della Florida ha infatti accolto l’istanza di Chico di avvalersi dei benefici previsti dalla Convenzione di Strasburgo e di essere trasferito in Italia”, aggiunge il ministro degli Esteri.

Enrico ‘Chico’ Forti è detenuto in un carcere di massima sicurezza di Miami ormai da più di venti anni. Il 15 giugno 2000 l’ex produttore televisivo è stato condannato all’ergastolo per un delitto del quale si è sempre professato innocente.
“Si tratta di un risultato estremamente importante, che premia un lungo e paziente lavoro politico e diplomatico. Non ci siamo mai dimenticati di Chico Forti, che potrà finalmente fare ritorno nel suo Paese vicino ai suoi cari”, scrive Di Maio.
“Sono personalmente grato al Governatore DeSantis e all’Amministrazione Federale degli Stati Uniti. Un ringraziamento speciale al Segretario di Stato Mike Pompeo, con il quale ho seguito personalmente la vicenda e con il quale ho parlato ancora nel fine settimana, per l’amicizia e la collaborazione che ha offerto per giungere a questo esito così importante”, aggiunge il responsabile della Farnesina.
“Il Governo seguirà ora i prossimi passi per accelerare il più possibile l’arrivo di Chico. Erano vent’anni che aspettava questo momento e siamo felici per lui, per i suoi cari, per la sua famiglia, per tutta la città di Trento. È un momento commovente anche per noi”, conclude.
