Un settantenne è sospettato di aver sequestrato per diversi mesi in un piccolo villaggio dell’Alto Reno, in Francia, il figlio di 39 anni, recluso in una soffitta e privato di cibo perché aveva perso il lavoro. Arrestato con l’accusa di aver tenuto in ostaggio per almeno “quattro mesi” il figlio, l’uomo sarà portato davanti al giudice.

Il caso è scoppiato mercoledì sera, quando i gendarmi sono stati chiamati per una storia di violenza: una donna ha denunciato che il marito era stato colpito dal figlio a Malmerspach, un paese di circa 500 anime, a una trentina di chilometri di distanza da Mulhouse, nell’Est della Francia.

Il 39enne, che ha ammesso di aver colpito il padre, è stato portato al pronto soccorso di Mulhouse per verificare il suo stato di salute. Lungo la strada, l’uomo ha raccontato però di non sentirsi molto bene, né di aver mangiato abbastanza ultimamente. In ospedale, il suo stato di estrema magrezza, che evocava le “immagini dei prigionieri nei campi”, ha scioccato i sanitari: volto incavato, costole sporgenti Interrogato, ha spiegato che era tornato alla casa dei genitori circa un anno fa dopo aver perso il lavoro. Il padre, giudicando che il figlio non facesse nulla per tirare avanti, aveva quindi deciso di rinchiuderlo in soffitta, vietandogli di scendere a mangiare.

Spinto dalla fame, ha detto di aver cercato di sgattaiolare fuori dalla soffitta di notte per mangiare gli avanzi. Ma suo padre, che se ne era accorto, l’aveva bloccato. Esausto, il 39enne ha finito per picchiare il padre. Interrogati dagli agenti, i vicini hanno dichiarato di non essersi neanche accorti del ritorno del figlio.
