Attentato in Congo – Ultime notizie terribili dall’Africa. Attentato nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo dove sono rimasti uccisi l’ambasciatore italiano Luca Attanasio e il carabiniere Vittorio Iacovacci, che era nel convoglio con il diplomatico. Il militare aveva 30 anni, era in servizio presso l’ambasciata italiana dal settembre del 2020.
L’attacco è avvenuto nel percorso tra Goma e Bukavu da parte, secondo le prime informazioni, di un commando terroristico che ha utilizzato armi leggere. Sulla dinamica e il movente sono ancora in corso accertamenti.

E’ con profondo dolore che la Farnesina conferma il decesso dell’ambasciatore e di un militare dell’Arma dei Carabinieri: stavano viaggiando a bordo di una autovettura in un convoglio della MONUSCO, la missione dell’Organizzazione delle Nazioni Unite per la stabilizzazione nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo.
Un autista è la terza vittima dell’attacco nella provincia orientale del Nord-Kivu, rivela una fonte diplomatica a Kinshasa.
L’ambasciatore, aggiunge la fonte, è deceduto dopo essere stato ferito da colpi d’arma da fuoco all’addome ed è arrivato all’ospedale di Goma in condizioni critiche. “Le forze armate del Congo stanno facendo il possibile per sapere chi siano gli autori dell’attacco”, avvenuto a nord di Goma. La regione del Nord-Kivu è teatro dell’azione di decine di gruppi armati che si contendono le risorse naturali e ospita il Parco dei Virunga, famoso per i gorilla di montagna e sorvegliato da 628 ranger armati.
L’attacco era un ‘tentativo di rapimento’, rivelano i ranger del Parco nazionale dei Virunga, citati da vari media tra cui il Jerusalem Post. L’attacco è avvenuto intorno alle 10 (le 9 italiane).
