La divisione del Paese in colori è solo una perdita di tempo. Non ha dubbi il professor Walter Ricciardi, consulente del ministro della Salute Roberto Speranza, sulla strategia più giusta da adottare in questo momento contro il Coronavirus. Parlando a La Stampa, il professore ordinario d’Igiene all’Università Cattolica ha indicato la strada del lockdown totale come unica possibilità per superare la nuova fase critica di contagi e decessi. «Serve severo e immediato, di tre o quattro settimane» ha detto, spiegando come lo stop generale potrebbe facilitare le vaccinazioni e proteggere la popolazione «dalla variante inglese, che altrimenti prenderebbe il sopravvento anche in Italia».
Walter Ricciardi insiste: «I morti ci dicono che siamo in piena terza ondata»
La fase attuale di contagi descritta dal professor Ricciardi è in sostanza una piena terza ondata post-festività: «È già arrivata», ha detto, «i 475 morti di ieri sono quelli contagiati a Natale».
Sui contagi, che ora sembrano più bassi rispetto ai picchi raggiunti nella prima e nella seconda ondata, Ricciardi concede il merito alle misure prenatalizie «che hanno impedito una crescita enorme dei contagi», ma mette in guardia su una curva che seppur stabile «continua a rimanere a un livello molto alto e a uccidere circa 500 italiani al giorno».
Per non parlare dei tamponi. Il professore sostiene una mancata capacità di tracciamento che starebbe condizionando i numeri riportati dal bollettino nazionale giornaliero. «Per ogni caso accertato ce ne sono uno o due non rilevati. Il tracciamento è inadeguato e le Regioni sottovalutano l’importanza dei test».
«Regole ancora troppo soft, il governo cerca di ammorbidire il clima»
Alla luce di una situazione complessa, Ricciardi reputa «senza senso» il permesso di potersi recare nelle seconde case, definendo la misura alleggerita come «un tentativo» da parte del governo «di ammorbidire il clima di tensione e fatica».
Stesso discorso per la riapertura delle scuole: «Anche questo è sconveniente, ogni attività di massa in questa fase deve essere bloccata». Lockdown e scuole chiuse dunque la soluzione per il consulente di Speranza che ora reputa troppo poco severi anche i criteri per la classificazione in zona rossa. «Il sistema di colori è troppo soft e le regole delle zone rosse servono per rallentare l’epidemia ma non per abbatterla» ha spiegato, aggiungendo un riferimento al contro-dossier presentato dalla Lombardia.
«Anche i numeri più recenti, che la Lombardia vorrebbe venissero tenuti in considerazione, sono in peggioramento» ha chiarito Ricciardi, spiegando come opporsi alle restrizioni più severe sia solo un modo per rimanere a rischio ancora per molto. «Se le regioni continueranno a vivere le zone rosse come stigma resteranno sul plateau per sempre», ha continuato, «quelle che sono state in zona rossa, come Toscana e Campania, sono migliorate e non vedo perché Lombardia, Provincia di Bolzano e Sicilia non debbano intraprendere lo stesso percorso».
«Ottimista su Astrazeneca, con gli ultra 80enni la sfida sarà dura»
Sul fronte del ritardo vaccini Ricciardi sembra essere tranquillo. La notizia del rallentamento di produzione da parte di Pfizer è considerata dal professore «una pausa che l’azienda riuscirà a recuperare entro pochi mesi», dovuta al potenziamento dello stabilimento in Belgio e alla costruzione di un nuovo impianto in Germania. E se Pfizer rallenta, la speranza sembra essere Astrazeneca, su cui Ricciardi dichiara di sentirsi ottimista. «Credo verrà approvato nella versione con due dosi piene che copre circa al 60%» ha spiegato il professore riguardo al via libera di Ema atteso per il 29 gennaio. «Se poi l’autorità italiana lo approvasse anche con la prima mezza dose più la seconda intera si arriverebbe circa al 90% e saremmo ancora più contenti» ha concluso.
Il pericolo della variante inglese, secondo quanto spiegato dal professore, oltre al danno sui contagi potrebbe far allontanare l’obiettivo dell’immunità di gregge: «Nella situazione attuale basterà il 75% degli italiani vaccinati ed entro l’anno ci riusciremo. Con la variante inglese si salirebbe al 95% e questo è uno dei motivi per cui ora serve un lockdown», ha ribadito. Lo scenario da dover garantire in questa fase è quello di un piano vaccinale in grado di entrare a pieno regime e sostenere l’arrivo degli ultra 80enni. «Sono tanti e servirà molta organizzazione. Bisognerà vaccinare almeno 250 mila persone al giorno», conclude Ricciardi.
