Vaccino Covid – Il Prof. Matteo Bassetti, direttore della Clinica di Malattie infettive dell’ospedale San Martino di Genova e componente della task force Covid-19 della Liguria, commenta a La 7 nel corso de L’Aria Che Tira le ultime novità in tema di vaccini:
“Dopo 4 settimane dalla prima dose del vaccino anti Covid dovremmo essere coperti ed essere in grado di difenderci contro la malattia, contro la malattia grave e anche contro l’infezione. Il che vuol dire che grazie al vaccino, quando arriveremo a una copertura importante è probabile che ci potremo togliere anche la mascherina”.
Secondo Bassetti, il vaccino permetterà anche “di non avere soggetti asintomatici portatori di virus e con coperture significative del 70-75% della popolazione questo vuol dire tornare a una vita normale”.

L’infettivologo si sofferma anche sui tempi con cui si è arrivati al via libera per il vaccino: “E’ evidente che questa era una situazione d’emergenza. Non dobbiamo però guardare il tempo, ma il come e il quanto. E’ stata fatta la sperimentazione seguendo le regole di prima? Certamente sì”.
“Il numero dei pazienti arruolati nei vari studi è adeguato? Sì, oltre 40mila nello studio Pfizer e altrettanti negli altri studi. E’ chiaro che essendo una situazione d’emergenza sia andato più veloce rispetto a quanto fatto prima. Bisognerà probabilmente rifarlo -dice riferendosi alla somministrazione- perché non credo che durerà più di un anno l’immunizzazione. Sarà un po’ come per l’influenza, bisognerà fare una dose di richiamo”.
Sulla variante Covid in Inghilterra, Bassetti getta acqua sul fuoco: “La variante inglese è stata isolata probabilmente anche in molti laboratori italiani. Vorrei conoscere il consulente alla comunicazione di Boris Johnson, è una variante come ce ne sono molte altre, una notizia senza fondamento scientifico e che ha creato un problema”.
