Ricciardi pessimista – Le dichiarazioni di un pessimista Walter Ricciardi, consigliere di Roberto Speranza, sulle misure anti Covid. Le ultime notizie dall’Italia e dal mondo sul coronavirus tutte le ultime news aggiornate in tempo reale.

“Le soluzioni decise non saranno sufficienti, è evidente. Così i contagi cresceranno ancora. Pensare di riaprire le scuole, con 20 mila casi al giorno, non ha senso”.

Così, sulle misure per contenere l’epidemia da Covid, Walter Ricciardi, che al Messaggero precisa che “la circolazione del virus è ancora intensa. Questo stato di emergenza per altri sei mesi è necessario ma va colto in funzione dell’evidenza scientifica che ci dice una cosa ormai chiara: le misure per fermare la trasmissione di Sars-Cov-2 vanno mantenute in maniera coordinata sul territorio italiano e in modo comprensibile ai cittadini. Soprattutto devono essere applicate in maniera costante”.

“Le pandemie sono fenomeni che durano anni – aggiunge il consigliere del ministro della Salute – sicuramente mesi. Bisogna attrezzarsi per combatterla. Però bisogna utilizzare questo stato di emergenza per dare messaggi chiari e veritieri agli italiani e adottare misure efficaci. Bisogna cercare di anticipare il virus, non inseguirlo. La sfida di oggi è questa. Ma non ci stiamo riuscendo. Le istanze che, come scienziati, rappresentiamo al ministro della Salute e che lui a sua volta rappresenta al Parlamento scontano dei compromessi al ribasso che non riescono a gestire questa situazione”.

Ricciardi pessimista: “Sarebbe servito lockdown”

“I provvedimenti vanno presi nella maniera giusta al momento giusto – prosegue Ricciardi -. Se la scienza mette a disposizione del decisore politico delle evidenze scientifiche sull’impatto e sulla durata dell’epidemia, non si deve esitare nel prendere misure adeguate. Come spesso succede, le ragioni del rigore scientifico non hanno un’adeguata considerazione. E così alla fine, come in altre nazioni per la verità, si rincorre l’epidemia, senza riuscire a fermarla. Invece, paesi come l’Australia, la Nuova Zelanda, molti di quelli asiatici, cosa hanno dimostrato? Che devi ridurre drasticamente la curva epidemica, in modo da potere tornare a testare e tracciare. Questo sì consentirebbe di recuperare una vita pressoché normale, tanto più ora che sono arrivati i vaccini”.

Sarebbe stato più lungimirante fare un periodo di lockdown vero, per due-quattro settimane? “Non c’è dubbio – risponde -. Questa continua alternanza di chiusure e aperture non riesce a invertire la curva epidemica. Produce effetti blandi e non duraturi. Questo virus è sempre lo stesso. Sappiamo che quando raggiunge determinate quote devi fare chiusure energiche, abbassare drasticamente il numero dei contagi, tornare a tracciare e testare i casi evitando così che la pressione sul sistema sanitario diventi drammatica. Queste misure differenziate tra regioni sono sacrosante. Però sono sacrosante nel momento in cui abbiamo limitato la circolazione in tutto il Paese. Oggi, al contrario, è troppo alta. Di più: la circolazione è elevata non solo in tutta Italia, ma in tutta Europa. E queste misure non riusciranno a tenere sotto controllo l’evoluzione dei contagi”.

“Non bisogna arrivare troppo tardi ai lockdown – dice ancora Ricciardi -, come hanno fatto Regno Unito, Germania e Austria; bisogna invece avere il coraggio di farli al momento giusto. Se li fai troppo tardi, con i numeri così alti, il lockdown durerà molto di più, come già hanno detto in Gran Bretagna. In realtà bisognava farlo a ottobre, con dei lockdown mirati a Milano, Napoli, Torino. Oggi aspettiamo l’esito delle misure di rafforzamento, ma non le nascondo di essere molto scettico”. Con 20mila casi al giorno riaprire le scuole “non ha alcun senso. Quando ci sono così tanti casi, l’unica soluzione è limitare la circolazione delle persone il più possibile. Come si può pensare di rimettere in moto milioni di italiani? Quando avremo poche migliaia di casi e saremo di nuovo in grado di tracciare e testare, allora sì, le scuole saranno le prime da riaprire”.

Sulle vaccinazioni…

Quanto alle vaccinazioni, conclude: “Stiamo accelerando. Ovviamente le dosi che abbiamo ricevuto è giusto riservarle prima al personale sanitario. Il meccanismo delle vaccinazioni di massa sarà coordinato a livello centrale, ma solo quando ci saranno dosi di vaccino sufficienti”. Quando avremo più vaccini “bisognerà essere più coordinati tra governo e regioni e accelerare l’arruolamento dei vaccinatori. Dobbiamo vaccinare almeno 20 milioni di italiani entro l’estate, facendo le iniezioni nelle palestre, nei palasport, nelle fiere. Ed entro fine febbraio dobbiamo avere immunizzato tutti gli operatori sanitari e gli ospiti delle Rsa”.
