A perdere la vita Samuele Verzilli, 61 anni, originario da Roseto, ma residente da tempo a Giulianova. «È assurdo quello che è successo a mio nipote», racconta lo zio Giuseppe «sabato era stato estubato. Domenica pomeriggio aveva avuto la buona notizia che era tornato negativo al tampone».
«Era felice –continua lo zio – aveva anche telefonato alla convivente e i paranti più stretti. Ieri è morto. Non ci posso ancora credere. Sono distrutto». Verzilli era in perfetta salute e andava a fare footing sul lungomare almeno tre volte a settimana. Non è chiaro come il 61enne abbia contratto il Covid.

I primi sintomi sono sorti ai primi di dicembre. All’inizio si pensava all’influenza stagionale, il medico curante gli consiglia di fare il tampone e così scopre di essere positivo. Con il passare dei giorni peggiora.
Il 20 dicembre il ricovero d’urgenza nel reparto Covid di Giulianova dove è morto. Samuele lavorava come dipendente di una azienda di ortaggi surgelati. Descritto da chi lo conosceva, come una «persona simpatica e socievole», la notizia ha fatto subito il giro dei social.
Molti i messaggi per dargli l’ultimo saluto sul suo profilo Facebook. «Ciao Samuele, eri una persona speciale adesso sei con gli angeli». «Eri un collega simpatico disponibile e sempre con il sorriso». I funerali si terranno con rito civile oggi alle 14 ad Elice, in provincia di Pescara dove vivono la madre ed i fratelli.
