EXO-CD24 Usa gli esosomi, minuscole particelle a forma di sacche che trasportano i materiali tra le cellule, per fornire una proteina chiamata CD24 ai polmoni.
“Questa proteina – ha spiegato alla stampa Shiran Shapira del laboratorio di Arber – si trova sulla superficie delle cellule e ha un ruolo noto e importante nella regolazione del sistema immunitario, aiutando a calmare il sistema e frenare la tempesta”. Il farmaco passerà ora a ulteriori fasi di sperimentazione, ma i medici parlano di un possibile punto di svolta nella lotta contro il Covid-19.
