L’infettivologo boccia di nuovo il piano vaccini anti Covid-19, avverte che la variante brasiliana “sembra sfuggire al sistema immunitario” e critica le Regioni che hanno fatto la corsa a finire le dosi di vaccino. Ecco le sue parole riportate dall’edizione online de Il Tempo:
“Continuo a pensare che razionare la dosi come hanno fatto in Inghilterra non sia la strada giusta. Credo sia meglio vaccinare meno persone ma metterle tutte in sicurezza che non fare un rappezzo come n Inghilterra rimandato a 120 giorni la seconda dose. Non possiamo rischiare di fare un sola dose agli ultra ottantenni, non sarebbero difesi conto il virus. E’ importante avere un piano B perché quello A è ampiamente naufragato: non ce la facciamo a vaccinare 400.00 persone al giorno entro l’autunno”.

“Il piano B è focalizzarsi sugli anziani, sui fragili e sugli ultraottantenni. Perché parlo di fragili? Per loro serve un piano di vaccinazione immediata perché probabilmente così avremo meno decessi in rapporto alla popolazione e meno ricoveri in ospedale che significa molto per il sistema sanitario”.
Il Professore della Clinica Malattie Infettive dell’Ospedale Policlinico San Martino di Genova non appoggia l’idea di una solidarietà tra le Regioni per la seconda dose: “C’è stata la gara a chi era più bravo, ma era una corsa finta. Fare il 100% delle risorse è stato sbagliato perché ora non hanno la seconda dose. Noi in Liguria non abbiamo raggiunto il 100% perché pensavamo ad accantonar la seconda dose e ora ce le abbiamo per i richiami. Altre regioni no. E’ come la cicala e la formica. Adesso perché la Liguria dovrebbe dare alla cicala?!”.
Infine sulle varianti del Covid-19: “Le varianti sono fisiologiche, il virus cambia, ma finora non in maniera così significativa da rendere inefficace i vaccini. C’è da dire però che sulla variante brasiliana non sappiamo ancora granché, sembra sfuggire al nostro sistema immunitario, ma non allarmiamo la gente. Dobbiamo studiarne la sequenza genomica e questo significa fare investimenti sulla qualità dei laboratori perché non tutti sono in grado di studiare le sequenze. Dobbiamo correre sui vaccini per affrontare le varianti, ma l’epidemia sta rallentando in molte regioni, i numeri delle ospedalizzazioni e delle terapie sono in decremento e il numero dei guariti supera quello dei contagiati, speriamo che questa forte seconda ondata sia l’ultima”.
