«L’onda di contagi ha indubbiamente rallentato, soprattutto nell’ultima settimana. Oggi (ieri, ndr), ad esempio, non mi hanno ancora segnalato alcun accesso per Covid dal pronto soccorso. In alcune giornate ne vedevamo 20,25».
L’estate scorsa lei era tra coloro che vedevano un virus sconfitto, previsione poi smentita dai fatti. Cosa ci aspetta per quest’estate?
«L’anno scorso abbiamo sbagliato. È stato un errore e l’ho ampiamente ammesso, ma ero in buona compagnia: era quello che vedevamo, un virus che mordeva meno. Ma quest’anno la situazione è diversa: con i vaccini, si toglierà sempre più ossigeno a quella brace che l’anno scorso appariva spenta e non lo era. Più sono i vaccini fatti e meno è probabile che ci sia poi una ripresa dei contagi dopo l’estate. Aggiungo una cosa: la categoria degli esperti si divide in due: chi ha sbagliato e lo ha ammesso e chi ha sbagliato e non lo ha fatto. Non dimentichiamoci di chi prevedeva 150 mila persone in terapia intensiva».
