Papa Francesco sul clima: “Non c’è più tempo da perdere, pianeta è nostra casa comune”

La nostra ‘casa comune’ reclama un cambio di rotta. Urgono misure, non c’è più tempo da perdere.

Lo ammonisce il Papa in un videomessaggio in occasione dell’High Level Virtual Climate Ambition Summit. Bergoglio dice anche che la Santa Sede è impegnata a ridurre a zero le emissioni nette “entro il 2050”.

Papa Francesco sul clima, le parole

Bergoglio ricorda che a farne le spese sono sempre i più deboli: “L’attuale pandemia e il cambiamento climatico, che non sono solo rilevanti dal punto di vista ambientale, ma anche etico, sociale, economico e politico, influenzano soprattutto le vite dei più poveri e fragili. In questo modo, si appella alla nostra responsabilità di promuovere, con impegno collettivo e solidarietà, una cultura della cura, che metta al centro la dignità umana e il bene comune”.

Papa Francesco indica la strada: “Oltre ad adottare alcune misure che non possono più essere rimandate, è necessaria una strategia che riduca a zero le emissioni nette (emissioni nette zero)“. La Santa Sede, dice il Pontefice, “è associata a questo obiettivo, muovendosi su due piani. Da un lato, lo Stato della Città del Vaticano si impegna a ridurre a zero le emissioni nette entro il 2050, intensificando gli sforzi di gestione ambientale, già in atto da alcuni anni, che consentono un uso razionale delle risorse naturali quali acqua ed energia, efficienza energetica, mobilità sostenibile, rimboschimento ed economia circolare anche nella gestione dei rifiuti”.

Inoltre, annota Bergoglio, “la Santa Sede è impegnata a promuovere un’educazione all’ecologia integrale. Le misure politiche e tecniche devono essere combinate con un processo educativo che favorisca un modello culturale di sviluppo e sostenibilità centrato sulla fratellanza e sull’alleanza tra esseri umani e ambiente. E’ giunto il momento di cambiare rotta. Non priviamo le nuove generazioni della speranza in un futuro migliore”.
