Massimo Ciccozzi: “Non possiamo dire agli italiani potete fare acquisti e poi dirgli avete sbagliato”

Nuove misure per Natale e Capodanno dopo le folle in strada nel fine settimana? “Penso che il governo debba prendere una decisione e seguirla, anche se impopolare. Ma penso anche che andare per tentativi sia pericoloso: le persone non capiscono più nulla, non sanno a cosa credere e sono disorientate. E’ vero che in Italia abbiamo un numero di morti inammissibile e che i casi calano molto lentamente. Ma è anche vero che le spese di Natale si fanno prima del 24″.

Lo sottolinea all’Adnkronos Salute Massimo Ciccozzi, responsabile dell’Unità di statistica medica ed epidemiologia molecolare dell’Università Campus BioMedico.

“La curva dei casi di Covid – osserva l’esperto – da noi sta rallentando molto lentamente, e il numero dei decessi è ancora molto alto: penso dovremo aspettare almeno la prossima settimana per vedere una riduzione. E’ vero anche che la Germania, che finora di fatto era rimasta aperta, ha annunciato un lockdown duro fino al 10 gennaio, ma è anche vero che noi abbiamo optato settimane fa per un lockdown ‘light’. Adesso questa nuova improvvisa paura che fa parlare di ulteriori misure per i giorni delle feste da dove viene? Credo che tutto sommato si voglia evitare un problema legato al pranzo di Natale e a quello di Capodanno, perché gli acquisti si fanno prima, come abbiamo visto nei giorni scorsi. Insomma, la curva scende piano perché abbiamo fatto un lockdown soft, e se si lasciano le cose così occorre fidarsi delle persone e sperare che non facciano stupidaggini“.

Lo specialista poi continua. “Se diciamo agli italiani che possono fare acquisti e loro vanno a farli, dotati di mascherina e rispettando le misure, poi non possiamo dirgli che hanno sbagliato. Sta al Governo decidere se prendere una decisione ‘alla Merkel’, ben sapendo che finora la Germania è rimasta aperta e noi no. E sapendo anche che cambiare approccio può essere confondente”.

Ciccozzi stigmatizza infine alcuni comportamenti dei connazionali: “So che alcuni si stanno organizzando per affittare ville, festeggiare e fermarsi a dormire per evitare il problema del coprifuoco. Ecco, questo va evitato – conclude l’esperto – se non vogliamo trovarci a fare i conti con una pesantissima terza ondata”.
