Emergenza sepolture non solo a Roma. Da diversi mesi anche a Palermo la situazione è critica. Nei depositi del cimitero dei Rotoli, ormai al collasso, ci sono oltre 850 bare. Alcune delle quali in attesa di tumulazione dall’inizio dell’anno scorso. Con il Comune costretto a realizzare già a fine gennaio delle tendostrutture dove sistemare i feretri.
La cremazione non è possibile in quanto l’unico forno presente, costruito una quarantina d’anni fa, è guasto dal 15 aprile dell’anno scorso. Ed è fermo anche il progetto per la realizzazione di un secondo impianto, accanto a quello preesistente, per via della mancanza di un collegamento con la rete fognaria.
Al momento, l’unica soluzione possibile è il trasferimento delle bare in Calabria. Per quelle in deposito, è il Comune a pagare il trasporto e la cremazione della salme, almeno per 184, come previsto da una nuova ordinanza.

Situazione critica anche nella Capitale, dove si registrano problemi e lunghi tempi di attesa per le tumulazioni, tanto che l’Efi, l’Associazione Eccellenza Funeraria Italiana che raccoglie gli operatori di onoranze funebri, ha presentato un esposto alla Procura di Roma, in cui si ipotizzano i reati di omissione di atti di ufficio e sottrazione di cadavere.
A denunciare l’emergenza è stato il deputato del Pd, Andrea Romano, che su Twitter ha scritto un messaggio diretto alla sindaca di Roma, Virginia Raggi: “Sono due mesi che mio figlio Davide non è più con con la sua mamma, con i suoi fratelli, con me, due mesi che non riusciamo a seppellirlo. La tua vergogna non sarà mai abbastanza grande”.
