Benno Neumair – Il ritratto di Benno Neumair rilanciato dallo zio si avvicina molto a quello di una personalità tendente alla perdita del controllo. Un ragazzo contraddittorio i cui comportamenti oscillavano dalla bipolarità a una vera e propria schizofrenia.

“Non credo a una confessione liberatoria – spiega lo zio Gianni Ghirardini – gli è semplicemente convenuto o glielo avranno consigliato. Non c’è pentimento: aveva l’acqua alla gola, fa comodo confessare. La sua è una strategia. Deve dire dove è il corpo di Peter”.

Lo zio di Benno ha dichiarato di aver saputo della confessione dai media. L’avvocato della famiglia di Carla Perselli, sorella di Laura, si sta informando. Poco ancora sono riusciti a sapere di quanto successo: la Procura ha mantenuto il massimo riserbo sulle comunicazioni.

“Non ci aspettavamo una confessione – spiega ancora lo zio – gli avevo chiesto di farlo, ma non credo sia stata la mia richiesta a sortire effetto”. L’uomo aveva infatti inviato una lettera al nipote per invitarlo a confessare e a pentirsi, ma non sarebbero state quelle parole a farlo crollare. Secondo l’accusa, il 30enne si sarebbe deciso a confessare dopo il ritrovamento del corpo della madre Laura. Una confessione avvenuta in due atti, nel giro di circa un mese.

“L’ho tenuto in braccio, gli volevo bene – spiega – e uso l’imperfetto perché non gliene voglio più. Dovrebbe confessare e dovrebbe collaborare”.

Ghirardini racconta una personalità difficile, dai tratti estremamente infantili, eppure spiega di averlo amato e accudito fin da bambino. Sul perdono resta scettico. “Servirebbe un percorso lungo molto tempo, bisognerebbe capire cosa lo ha spinto e il dolore che ha dentro. Mi aspetto un percorso del genere da lui” ha raccontato. Benno però, fino al ritrovamento del cadavere di sua madre, ha negato anche l’evidenza, mostrandosi più sconvolto dall’arresto che dall’omicidio in sé. Ghirardini aveva provato a dirgli queste cose di persona, andandolo a trovare in carcere, ma non glielo avevano fatto vedere. “Ho provato a scrivergli, ma credo che agisca per convenienza e che la mia lettera non abbia sortito alcun effetto”.
