Trovato il nuovo paziente 1 di Covid-19 italiano: è una donna milanese di 25 anni, sottoposta il 10 novembre 2019 a una biopsia della pelle per una dermatosi atipica, prima quindi del bambino di quattro anni con il morbillo di cui era stata documentata la presenza del virus con un test fatto a dicembre 2019.
A dirlo è uno studio internazionale coordinato dall’Università Statale di Milano e pubblicato sul British Journal of Dermatology, che ha indagato le biopsie cutanee dell’autunno prima dell’esplosione della pandemia, trovando il Covid in una giovane paziente che aveva (apparentemente) solo uno sfogo rosso sulla pelle.
Le patologie cutanee sono presenti in circa il 5-10 per cento dei pazienti affetti da infezione da Covid-19. Un gruppo di patologi coordinato da Raffaele Gianotti ricercatore dell’ateneo milanese, con il supporto dei laboratori dell’Istituto Europeo di Oncologia e Centro Diagnostico Italiano, ha riesaminato al microscopio le biopsie cutanee di dermatosi atipiche osservate negli ultimi mesi del 2019 che non avevano una diagnosi precisa.

“Abbiamo cercato nel passato perché nei nostri lavori già pubblicati su riviste internazionali, abbiamo dimostrato che esistono, in questa pandemia, casi in cui l’unico segno di infezione da Covid 19 è quello di una patologia cutanea – spiega Gianotti -.
“Mi sono domandato se avessimo potuto trovare indizi della presenza della SARS-CoV-2 nella cute di pazienti con solo malattie della pelle prima dell’inizio della fase epidemica ufficialmente riconosciuta”. La biopsia di una giovane donna, risalente a novembre 2019, ha mostrato la presenza di sequenze geniche dell’RNA del virus, le impronte digitali del Covid-19 nel tessuto cutaneo. La paziente, contattata a posteriori, ha raccontato di non avere avuto altro sintomo, lesioni poi scomparse dopo cinque mesi. E da un test sierologico fatto a giugno 2020, ecco gli anticorpi nel sangue. “Sulla base dei dati presenti in letteratura mondiale questo è il più antico riscontro della presenza del virus SARS-CoV-2 in un essere umano”, scrive l’Università degli Studi, che aveva già retrodatato all’inizio di dicembre il primo tampone positivo al virus in Italia, eseguito su un bambino di quattro anni affetto da morbillo.
