Sono “strane” le dichiarazioni di Thierry Breton, commissario europeo per il mercato interno incaricato per la campagna di vaccinazione contro il coronavirus, che ieri sera in un’intervista a ‘Tf1’ ha affermato che l’Ue “non ha assolutamente bisogno dello Sputnik V”, il vaccino russo.
Lo ha dichiarato il presidente russo, Vladimir Putin, intervenendo in video-conferenza a una riunione con gli sviluppatori dei vaccini russi, secondo quanto riferito dai media locali. “Non costringiamo nessuno a fare nulla – ha affermato Putin – ma ci interroghiamo sugli interessi difesi da queste persone, quelli delle case farmaceutiche o quelli dei cittadini europei?”.

Le parole di Breton hanno suscitato la reazione anche del Russian Direct Investment Fund (Rdif), fondo sovrano che ha finanziato la ricerca su Sputnik, che ha accusato il commissario europeo di “faziosità”.
Sputnik V è “uno dei vaccini più efficaci al mondo” ha affermato il premier russo Mikhail Mishustin in dichiarazioni riportate dall’agenzia Tass. “Lo sai, e molti, compresi i nostri stimati colleghi stranieri, stanno scrivendo che è uno dei vaccini più efficaci al mondo”, ha detto durante un incontro con il premier del Kazakistan, Askar Mamin. Mishustin ha poi aggiunto che il vaccino Sputnik V contribuirà “a far fronte alle minacce e ai rischi che derivano dalla pandemia di coronavirus”.
Oggi in un colloquio telefonico il presidente del Consiglio Europeo Charles Michel e il presidente russo Putin hanno parlato anche della rolling review, la revisione a blocchi dei dati, del vaccino Sputnik V da parte dell’Ema. Lo riferiscono fonti Ue. Attualmente l’Ema ha in rolling review tre vaccini: Sputnik V o Gam-Covid Vac dell’Istituto Gamaleya di Mosca; l’Nvx-CoV2373 di Novavax e il CVnCoV di CureVac. I leader, informa il Consiglio, si sono scambiati vedute “sulla pandemia di Covid-19, sui vaccini e su questioni globali e regionali”.
Putin ha intanto annunciato che ha intenzione di vaccinarsi domani, sottolineando che ”vaccinarsi è una scelta individuale”.
Cavaleri (Ema): “Su Sputnik andiamo avanti, il punto a fine aprile”
Su Sputnik V “noi andiamo avanti con la valutazione dei dati disponibili e con le ispezioni ai siti produttivi, che sono in programma il mese prossimo. A fine aprile faremo il punto della situazione e capiremo meglio la tempistica di una potenziale autorizzazione, qualora i dati la supportassero”. Questo ha detto all’Adnkronos Salute Marco Cavaleri, responsabile Vaccini e Prodotti terapeutici per Covid-19 dell’Agenzia europea del farmaco Ema.
