La Russia ha annunciato di aver rilevato per la prima volta negli esseri umani il virus dell’influenza aviaria H5N8 e di aver allertato l’Organizzazione mondiale della sanità (Oms).
Il passaggio all’uomo
Il primo caso di infezione umana con il virus H5N8 dell’influenza aviaria nella Federazione russa è stato confermato in laboratorio e isolato in sette dipendenti di un’azienda di pollame nel sud del Paese che stanno bene e hanno solo lievi sintomi.
La direttrice dell’agenzia federale russa per i controlli sanitari ha specificato che «il virus può essere trasmesso dagli uccelli all’uomo» ma «non può essere trasmesso da un essere umano a un altro».
Il ceppo di influenza aviaria finora noto per contagiare l’uomo è l’H5N1. Nelle epidemie recenti, a partire dal 2003, è stata documentata la capacità di quest’ultimo virus di contagiare direttamente anche gli esseri umani. Tra l’altro causando forme acute di influenza che in alcuni casi hanno portato a morte.
Le altre segnalazioni in allevamenti
I focolai in allevamenti delle varie influenze aviarie sono molti ogni anno. In Italia un focolaio di H5N8 è stato identificato di recente, a gennaio, in un allevamento a Lugo, in provincia di Ravenna, in due esemplari di gru coronate grigie, poi decedute a causa dell’infezione. In Francia all’inizio di dicembre 2020 le autorità hanno abbattuto oltre 400 mila anatre.
Alla fine del 2019, la Polonia ha segnalato il primo focolaio da virus H5N8 in un allevamento di tacchini da carne. Da quel momento in avanti sono stati registrati numerosi altri focolai in Europa, anche in Ungheria, Slovacchia, Romania e Repubblica Ceca e Ucraina.
L’influenza aviaria è una malattia altamente contagiosa dei volatili, che colpisce per lo più gli uccelli selvatici. Solitamente tali uccelli non si ammalano, ma possono essere molto contagiosi per gli uccelli domestici quali polli, anatre, tacchini e altri animali da cortile.
