Continuano le indagini dell’Ema, l’Agenzia europea del Farmaco, sugli eventi di trombosi venosa verificatisi in connessione alla distribuzione del vaccino anti Covid AstraZeneca che hanno portato alcuni paesi Ue, tra cui Germania, Italia, Francia e Spagna, a sospendere la somministrazione del siero in via precauzionale e temporanea. L’Ema, in un comunicato pubblicato sul proprio sito ufficiale, ha confermato che si tratta di “una precauzione presa alla luce delle situazioni nazionali mentre l’Agenzia indaga su una serie di eventi di coaguli di sangue in persone che avevano ricevuto il vaccino”, tuttavia aggiungendo che “eventi del genere si sono verificati in un numero molto limitato di persone che hanno ricevuto il siero. In migliaia sviluppano coaguli di sangue ogni anno nell’UE per diversi motivi. Il numero di eventi tromboembolici complessivi nelle persone vaccinate non sembra essere superiore a quello osservato nella popolazione generale”. Cosa che era stata precisata anche nelle scorse ore.
Ema AstraZeneca, le indagini e le dichiarazioni
L’Ema, che si riunirà in via straordinaria giovedì 18 marzo per dare una risposta sulla vicenda AstraZeneca, sta lavorando a stretto contatto con l’azienda anglo-svedese, con esperti in malattie del sangue e con altre autorità sanitarie, tra cui l’MHRA del Regno Unito, dove sono state somministrate già 11 milioni di dosi di questo vaccino. L’Agenzia ha reso noto che l’indagine “è proseguita nel fine settimana e nei prossimi giorni verrà condotta un’analisi rigorosa di tutti i dati relativi agli eventi tromboembolici. Gli esperti stanno esaminando nel dettaglio tutti i dati disponibili e le circostanze cliniche che riguardano casi specifici per determinare se il vaccino possa aver contribuito a quegli stessi eventi o se è probabile che l’evento sia stato dovuto ad altre cause. Il comitato per la sicurezza dell’Ema (PRAC) esaminerà ulteriormente le informazioni martedì e ha convocato una riunione straordinaria giovedì 18 marzo per concludere le informazioni raccolte”.
Infine, l’Ema ha tenuto a sottolineare che, mentre prosegue la sua indagine “rimane attualmente dell’opinione che i benefici del vaccino AstraZeneca nella prevenzione del Covid-19 ed il rischio associato di ospedalizzazione e morte superano i rischi di effetti collaterali. Nel frattempo, chiunque abbia ricevuto il vaccino e abbia dubbi deve contattare un operatore sanitario di riferimento. È importante che le persone che sospettano di avere un effetto collaterale dopo la vaccinazione lo riferiscano all’autorità nazionale di regolamentazione dei medicinali o a un operatore sanitario che possa aiutarli a farlo”.
