“Ci sono voluti 24 giorni per guarire. Ho preso il Covid in una forma abbastanza aggressiva – racconta Totti nell’intervista al Corriere della Sera -. Mi è stata diagnosticata una polmonite bilaterale. Ho avuto febbre a 40°, tosse continua. Mi sentivo stanco e non avevo fame. A un certo punto la saturazione è salita 89-90 e avrei dovuto ricoverarmi ma ho rifiutato. Avevo paura, per quello che era successo a mio padre due mesi prima. Con i farmaci sono riuscito ad uscirne, ma è stata veramente dura”.
Steso su letto, con la sensazione che gli fosse passato addosso un caterpillar. Totti non si era sentito così nemmeno quando gli avversari lo prendevano a calci e provavano a metterlo ko. Si alzava, faceva una smorfia poi riprendeva a correre e a far gol, replicando con le sue prodezze tecniche alle ‘attenzioni’ che riceveva. Qualche volta ha perso il controllo (come in occasione dello sputo a Poulsen oppure del calcio a Balotelli) ma ha fatto ammenda per quegli atteggiamenti. Con il Covid, invece, ha accusato angoscia e consapevolezza di poter far nulla se non avere pazienza e augurarsi che passasse tutto quanto prima possibile.
“Ho cercato di stare il più possibile a casa e curarmi con cortisone, antibiotici, eparina – ha aggiunto Totti -. Ero a letto da solo, in balia del tempo. Non reagivo… È stato un incubo durato quasi un mese. E quando ho visto che dopo una decina di giorni di farmaci e punture non mi passava ho temuto davvero“.
Il coronavirus ha colpito tutta la sua famiglia anche se in maniera differente e in forma più lieve. Nel racconto di Totti c’è anche questo dettaglio. Come abbia mai potuto contrarre il virus non sa spiegarlo ma il distanziamento sociale e le precauzioni restano l’unico sistema migliore per provare a proteggersi.
