Allarme varianti in tutta Europa, altri Paesi Ue chiudono. Piuttosto che pensare a sciare e mangiare fuori, anche in Italia dovremmo decidere un lockdown come è stato un anno fa a Codogno. Ormai le zone rosse non bastano più. Anche il virologo Andrea Crisanti, come il consigliere del ministro Speranza Walter Ricciardi, ritiene che il governo debba stringere ancora le misure per la lotta al Covid e ne parla in una intervista a La Stampa.

Gli impianti di sci non riaprono? E vorrei vedere! Il 20% dei contagiati presenta la variante inglese e la percentuale è destinata ad aumentare. Bisognava fare il lockdown a dicembre, prevenendo tutto questo, mentre ora siamo nei guai. Come se ne esce? Con un lockdown duro subito per evitare che la variante inglese diventi prevalente e per impedire che abbia effetti devastanti come in Inghilterra, Portogallo e Israele”, risponde Crisanti.

Niente sci, zone gialle e neanche arancioni, per il virologo che ha collaborato con il Veneto di Zaia all’inizio dell’epidemia. ‘Va chiuso tutto e va lanciato un programma nazionale di monitoraggio delle varianti’. “Dove si trovano le varianti brasiliana e sudafricana servono lockdown stile Codogno, non le zone rosse che sono troppo morbide”. Gli sviluppi, aggiunge, dipenderanno dalla dinamica del contagio,

D’altra parte, all’estero sono molto prudenti. ”La Germania continua il lockdown, la Francia pure, l’Inghilterra anche, solo noi pensiamo a sciare e a mangiar fuori. Tutti vogliamo una vita normale, ma non si realizza se non si controlla la pandemia”.

“Il rischio attuale – afferma Crisanti – è la diffusione della variante inglese, che se non si ferma subito aumenterà di molto la circolazione del virus e di conseguenza il rischio ulteriore di altre varianti, tra cui alcune che potrebbero resistere ai vaccini”.

Quanto al nuovo governo e alla conferma di Speranza, Crisanti risponde: “Credo sia stato giusto confermare Speranza, perché conosce le carte. Però conta molto chi lo consiglia e lì forse qualcosa va cambiato. Non può rimanere tutto com’è”. Non si riferisce a Ricciardi, che ha posizioni simili alle sue? “Ne sono contento, ma non basta – risponde Crisanti -. Mi riferisco ai tecnici del ministero e al Cts, che sono più ascoltati di lui. Le politiche adottate fin qui sono state sempre di rincorsa al virus, mentre è venuto il momento di anticiparlo”.
