Variante brasiliana Palermo – Identificata la variante brasiliana in un anziano paziente vaccinato anche con la seconda dose di Pfizer. Lo fa sapere l’ospedale Cervello di Palermo.
L’Uoc di Microbiologia e Virologia dell’Azienda Ospedaliera Villa Sofia – Cervello, diretta da Orazio Diquattro, “attraverso test di indagine di sequenziamento genico, con tecnica NGS, ha identificato la variante brasiliana P.1 in paziente Covid-19. Come da protocollo ministeriale si è provveduto alla notifica ed alla trasmissione al Laboratorio Regionale di Riferimento”.
Il paziente di 83 anni, immunodepresso, vaccinato con Pfizer, dopo pochi giorni dalla seconda dose, si era presentato presso il Pronto Soccorso dell’Ospedale Cervello accusando sintomatologia respiratoria e intestinale clinicamente significative.
Una volta effettuata la diagnosi clinica e microbiologica con tampone molecolare di Covid-19 è stato prontamente ricoverato presso l’Unità di Terapia Intensiva Respiratoria e grazie alla sinergia di Pronto Soccorso, Malattie Infettive, Intensiva Respiratoria, Microbiologia e Virologia dell’azienda ospedaliera palermitana – HUB per il Covid-19 – è stato identificato quale paziente altamente sospetto di essere portatore di una variante genica, come appunto e’ stato poi verificato. In atto il paziente è in trattamento di supporto intensivo delle funzioni vitali.
