Anche se il professore di Igiene dell’Università Cattolica e consulente scientifico del ministero della Salute, per ora non si sbilancia troppo, dice qualcosa che potrebbe far discutere gli italiani.
“Per il momento – spiega Ricciardi ad Agorà su Rai 3 – ho consigliato al ministro di prevedere la volontarietà per gli adulti. Ma se capissimo che serve il 90-95% di copertura per ottenere l’immunità di gregge, senza la quale ci troveremmo di fronte alla necessità di dover bloccare la produttività e la mobilità per il Paese, si potrebbe, per cause di forza maggiore, valutare anche l’obbligo“.
Insomma, l’obbligatorietà per il consulente del ministro Roberto Speranza, resterebbe l’ultima spiaggia, ma non sarebbe comunque da escludere. E la sensibilizzazzione dell’opinione pubblica sulla sicurezza dell’antidoto sarebbe la chiave per non ricorrere all’obbligo. “Credo che se viene adeguatamente spiegato che questo vaccino è sicuro e che è l’unico modo per tornare alla normalità, la gente si convinca“.
E nel giorno in cui si compie un altro passo avanti nella lotta alla pandemia da coronavirus, Ricciardi ridimensiona gli entusiasmi, insistendo sulla necessità di certificazioni ufficiali su efficacia e sicurezza del vaccino anti Covid. Quindi, anche di fronte agli annunci delle aziende produttrici che sbandierano percentuali record di efficacia, per il consulente del ministero non bisogna abbassare la guardia.
“Dobbiamo aspettare che le aziende presentino ufficialmente i dati all’Ema e alla Fda e i loro dati spero siano confermati dall’autorizzazione ufficiale. Ma – aggiunge Ricciardi – non c’è dubbio che il vaccino contro il Covid sarà valutato come tutti i vaccini nel passato, in primis per sicurezza e poi per la capacità protettiva”.
Sulla distribuzione
E sulle difficoltà logistiche della distribuzione taglia corto, passando la palla alle autorità locali. “Le regioni sceglieranno, a seconda di dimensioni e logistica, la via migliore. Quelle più piccole potrebbero prevedere un unico hub e poi le strutture dove si vaccina, per quelle più grandi saranno di più. Ma l’Italia ha tutta la capacità di fare bene questo piano di distribuzione”. Il nodo, sottolinea il professore, restano le garanzia sulla catena del freddo, indispensabile per almeno due dei tre principali protagonisti nella corsa al vaccino.
“Dovrà essere messa in moto una grande catena distributiva, perché uno dei due vaccini – quello Pfizer – deve essere costantemente tenuto a -75 gradi dal momento della produzione alla distribuzione. Quello di AstraZeneca invece può essere conservato a una normale temperatura refrigerativa”.
