Oltre centomila morti. Una soglia terribile, superata oggi 8 marzo 2021, che pone l’Italia tra i Paesi peggiori al mondo per mortalità da Covid-19. Un lunghissimo elenco iniziato il 21 febbraio del 2020 con Adriano Trevisan, 77enne pensionato di Vò Euganeo e prima vittima ufficiale del virus nel nostro Paese, e proseguito a ritmi forsennati, a parte i due mesi di “tregua” estiva quando i decessi erano poche unità al giorno.
Entriamo così nel poco ambito gruppo di Paesi che hanno superato i centomila decessi: erano cinque, con gli Usa capofila (537 mila morti), seguiti da Brasile (265 mila), Messico (190 mila), India (157 mila) e Regno Unito (124 mila) cui si aggiunge, da oggi, l’Italia. Prima per numeri assoluti nell’Unione Europea, dunque, con la Francia che segue (oltre 10 mila morti in meno), e Spagna e Germania distaccate (30 mila in meno). Ma oltre al dato assoluto, anche gli altri indici collocano l’Italia tra le maglie nere mondiali: il tasso di letalità, ad esempio, ossia quante sono le vittime rispetto ai contagiati.
Quanti morti Covid? I paesi peggiori per mortalità
Il nostro Paese viaggia su un poco incoraggiante 3,25%, dato sicuramente influenzato però dagli scarsi test eseguiti nella prima ondata, quando la letalità superava l’8%, segno che il denominatore, ossia il numero totale di contagi, era fortemente sottostimato. In ogni caso è il dato peggiore in Europa, a parte Grecia (3,29), Ungheria (3,41) e Bulgaria (4,08). Negli USA, Paese in testa per numero di decessi, il tasso di letalità ad esempio è dell’1,81%. In Gran Bretagna, unico paese europeo con più morti dell’Italia, è del 2,95%. E i nostri vicini più stretti fanno tutti meglio: 2,86 la Germania, 2,26 la Spagna e 2,24 la Francia.
Mentre l’indice più incontestabile, ossia il tasso di mortalità rispetto alla popolazione generale, vede la Gran Bretagna con numeri peggiori dei nostri: 1,827 morti per mille abitanti contro l’1,652 dell’Italia. Gli Usa sono a 1,618, il Brasile 1,243.
I dati sulle regioni
La Regione con più casi odierni è l’Emilia Romagna (+2.987), seguita da Lombardia (+2.301), Campania (+1.644), Piemonte (+1.214) e Lazio (+1.175). Il totale dei casi sale a 3.081.368. I guariti sono 13.893 (ieri 13.467), e sono oltre due milioni e mezzo, per l’esattezza 2.508.732. Per questo torna a calare il numero delle persone attualmente positive, 329 in meno (ieri +7.050), che sono ora 472.533. Di questi, sono in isolamento domiciliare 448.002 pazienti.
