Poi il Covid in casa: la madre muore il 13 febbraio, il giorno prima del compleanno; la sorella, che era stata la prima a risultare positiva, il 18. Anche Giorgia era stata contagiata, ma ne era uscita:
«La Giò ha vissuto questi lutti da sola in casa, in isolamento – racconta l’amica Federica a Repubblica – . Non riesco nemmeno a immaginare il suo dolore. In quei giorni non potevo esserle accanto, vivo a Messina per studio, Giò era in isolamento e io lontana. Tutto quello che potevo fare era telefonarle, stare con lei a parlare tutto il tempo che voleva, la sera, in videochiamata».
Giò e Federica si sono conosciute anni fa il primo giorno di liceo, a Milano. «E’ stata la prima persona con cui ho parlato in prima liceo e siamo diventate subito amiche, non ci siamo più perse di vista nemmeno quando Giorgia si è trasferita ed è andata via da Milano».
