“Non ci sono al momento prove convincenti di una circolazione di SARS-CoV-2 in Italia nell’autunno del 2019”.
Roberto Burioni si esprime così, su Twitter, in relazione allo studio che fa riferimento alla presenza di anticorpi specifici del coronavirus individuati all’inizio di settembre 2019.
Gli anticorpi, secondo uno studio, sono stati evidenziati in campioni di sangue fra quelli raccolti da quasi mille persone arruolate in uno screening anticancro dell’Istituto Nazionale Tumori avviato a luglio dell’anno scorso.
La professoressa Antonella Viola esprime lo stesso parere, in forma più articolata.
“Non c’è nessuna prova che il coronavirus fosse presente in Italia già a settembre 2019“, scrive l’immunologa su Facebook.
“Lo studio di cui hanno tanto (e a torto) scritto e parlato i giornalisti non dimostra che il Sars-Cov-2 fosse in Italia prima del 2020. Non lo fa per diverse ragioni (di metodo scientifico) – afferma l’immunologa – Il test usato per individuare gli anticorpi nei pazienti è fatto in casa e non validato. Più test validati si dovrebbero usare. La percentuale di persone con anticorpi che riconoscono Sars-Cov-2 è compatibile con la cross-reattività verso altri coronavirus già ampiamente riportata in letteratura. Gli stessi dati si utilizzano nel resto del mondo per parlare di immunità data dai virus del raffreddore; il test di neutralizzazione per verificare che gli anticorpi sono davvero in grado di legare e bloccare Sars-CoV-2 non ha funzionato. Manca – conclude Viola – il controllo negativo: cioè pazienti del 2017-2018 che certamente non possono essere infettati”.
