A dirlo è Matteo Bassetti, direttore delle Malattie infettive dell’ospedale San Martino di Genova: “Ha fatto bene l’Italia a seguire quello che dice l’Ema, i benefici del vaccino AstraZeneca superano ampiamente i rischi“, ha spiegato in un intervento a Mattino5.
“In generale sarebbe bene usare lo stesso vaccino per il richiamo. Moderna e Pfizer sono vaccini a Mrna, gli altri sono a vettore virale. Potrebbe bastare anche una sola dose, gli inglesi hanno somministrato la prima dose al maggior numero di persone e hanno rimandato la seconda. Chi ha avuto il Covid dovrebbe avere una sola dose: chi ha fatto l’infezione, ha la stessa risposta anticorpale se riceve una o due dosi. E’ inutile, in qualche modo, sprecare una seconda dose“, sostiene l’infettivologo.
“La variante più diffusa che abbiamo in Italia, la variante inglese, è perfettamente coperta dai 3 vaccini in uso e lo sarà anche dal vaccino Johnson & Johnson. Per la variante brasiliana e quella sudafricana, il vaccino potrebbe funzionare meno. Ma stiamo tranquilli: le vaccinazioni di massa sono il modo migliore per contrastare le varianti”, conclude Bassetti.
