Bassetti denuncia – Il Prof. Matteo Bassetti, direttore della Clinica Malattie infettive dell’Ospedale San Martino di Genova, ha rilasciato una intervista ai microfoni di Libero. Ecco le sue parole riportate dal portale AGI.it:
“La comunicazione è stata sbagliata. Terrorizzare le persone può aiutare a farle stare in casa, ma a livello ospedaliero gestire una popolazione nel panico genera solo caos. Se oggi le strutture sanitarie rischiano il collasso è anche perché sono assediate da migliaia di persone asintomatiche o poco sintomatiche che si potrebbero tranquillamente curare a casa e che invece prendono d’assalto i pronto soccorso, intasano i centralini degli ospedali, fanno perdere tempo ai medici. E tutto avviene perché sono state spaventate dalle istituzioni, che avrebbero invece dovuto tranquillizzarle”.
“Il Covid è stato ingigantito: è il panico e la paura di finire intubato che fa esplodere il sistema sanitario non i malati. Se ricevo cento telefonate al giorno da chi non sta male, come curo i malati veri?”.
“Andava detto che il Corona sta facendo danni enormi ma che la maggioranza dei positivi è asintomatica o poco sintomatica e che il virus ha una letalità inferiore all’1% e fa male soprattutto a pazienti anziani e con la salute già compromessa”.
Perché allora casi gravi, a volte mortali, anche tra i pazienti più giovani? “Perché è una brutta infezione – ammette l’infettivologo – e concorrono tanti fattori: la genetica, le condizioni di salute, lo stato delle difese immunitarie nel momento del contagio, la carica virale introiettata. Ma già prima della comparsa del Covid, la polmonite contratta fuori dall’ospedale era la quinta causa di morte nel mondo, e uccideva anche cinquantenni e bambini”.
