Antonio Vanacore, vice-allenatore della Cavese, ha perso la vita oggi a soli 45 anni nell’ospedale di Frattamaggiore a causa del Covid.
Vanacore, nativo di Pozzuoli, era l’allenatore in seconda di Sasà Campilongo, mister del club salernitano che milita attualmente nel girone C della serie C.
Un grave lutto per il club, che ha comunicato oggi la scomparsa di “un uomo e professionista insostituibile”, che da calciatore aveva disputato più di 150 partite tra serie B e C e aveva contratto il virus a metà febbraio, per poi essere trasferito in ospedale due settimane fa, quando i livelli di saturazione erano diventati preoccupanti.
Il Covid aveva colpito gran parte della società della Cavese proprio nel mese di febbraio, quando ben 25 tesserati (17 calciatori, 4 dirigenti e 4 componenti dello staff tecnico) erano risultati positivi, il che aveva costretto il club a chiedere il rinvio di due giornate di campionato.

L’emergenza era passata all’inizio di marzo, ma oggi 16 marzo è arrivata la tremenda notizia del decesso di Vanacore. Quest’ultimo in carriera aveva giocato con la Puteolana, il Benevento, il Catanzaro, la Casertana, la Juve Stabia e il Potenza. Per poi intraprendere la carriera di allenatore come vice di Campilongo già nel Savoia, con cui nella stagione 2018-2019 aveva disputato i playoff in C.
Una settimana fa allo Zaccheria di Foggia, la Cavese era scesa in campo con una maglietta che incitava il vice allenatore ad una pronta guarigione, prima della tragedia che oggi ha scosso la squadra e tutto il calcio italiano. Le sue condizioni erano già considerate “gravi” in quanto l’ex difensore era intubato in terapia intensiva.
