“I minori in età scolare sono esentati dal digiuno durante il Ramadan coincidente con la frequenza scolastica”. E quindi “la scuola non permette uscite in orario mensa né che gli alunni digiunino a scuola”.
Una circolare firmata dalla dirigente scolastica dell‘Istituto Comprensivo “Ermanno Olmi” di Milano ha provocato l’ira di alcune famiglie di religione musulmana, che hanno visto nel divieto di rispettare il digiuno a scuola una mancanza di sensibilità e di rispetto verso la libertà religiosa.

Rabbia della comunità islamica. “Quella circolare è un concentrato di aberrazioni sotto il profilo giuridico e delle libertà civili e costituzionali. Nonché sotto il profilo dei diritti umani più basilari e sotto quello dottrinale islamico”.
La dirigente scolastica, tuttavia, si è difesa spiegando che nel regolamento della scuola non è contemplato il digiuno nell’orario delle lezioni, in base ad una disposizione stabilita da anni e discussa sin dal 2006.
L’istituto diretto da Laura Barbirato comprende tre scuole e la dirigente scolastica ha spiegato quanto segue. “Il fenomeno è cresciuto nel tempo, prima erano solo pochi casi sporadici che si risolvevano con tranquilli e rispettosi confronti. Il tempo pieno comprende anche la mensa e il digiuno, senza neanche bere acqua, dall’alba al tramonto e per un mese di fila, è piuttosto faticoso per bambini dai 6 agli 11 anni. La decisione del Consiglio d’Istituto si basa su quanto prescritto dai testi di riferimento in merito al digiuno, che esentano i minorenni, gli anziani, i malati cronici, i malati psichici, i viaggiatori e le donne in gravidanza”.
