Povertà a Sassari – L’altra faccia del Covid, quella che ha messo in ginocchio chi era già precario ma in qualche modo riusciva a sopravvivere, si chiama fame.

L’esercito dei bisognosi, degli invisibili che ogni mattina mettono da parte il pudore e tendono la mano per avere qualcosa da mangiare in città continua a crescere di pari passo con il numero dei contagiati dal virus che da un anno a questa parte ha cambiato le vite di tutti.

Per un po’, a partire dal lockdown, il serpentone in fila davanti alla Casa della Fraterna Solidarietà era sparito, perché i volontari della onlus fondata da Aldo Meloni sedici anni fa avevano modificato le modalità di distribuzione dei pacchi con i generi alimentari.

Povertà a Sassari, ecco cosa sta succedendo in questi giorni

Da qualche settimana si è ritornati alla consegna tra le 10 e le 10.30 del mattino e questo ha inevitabilmente ricreato la lunga fila di bisognosi che ora, per via del distanziamento sociale, diventa ancora più lunga e per questo fa più impressione. Le operazioni vengono seguite a distanza dagli agenti della polizia locale, pronti a intervenire per far rispettare le regole imposte dalla pandemia.

«Sono circa trecento ogni giorno le persone che da prima delle 10 del mattino si mettono in fila per chiederci aiuto» racconta Aldo Meloni, anima e corpo di un’associazione che da anni si è presa l’impegno di non lasciare nessuno senza cibo.

Quando la mattina si aprono i cancelli della sede dell’associazione in corso Margherita di Savoia e compaiono i volti sorridenti dei volontari con in mano i sacchetti per centinaia di persone in difficoltà è come se si ripetesse il miracolo. E in effetti sfamare tutte le mattine circa trecento famiglie per un’associazione privata se non è un miracolo è qualcosa che gli si avvicina molto.

All’interno dei sacchetti i volontari sistemano solitamente pane, pasta, pelati, latte e acqua. Ogni giorno aggiungono qualcosa di utile nel sacchetto verde che consente a tante famiglie di mettere in tavola un piatto più che dignitoso.
