L’urto con il camion gli ha causato un gravissimo trauma cranico, per il quale Alex è stato operato diverse volte nel corso di questi mesi. Prima il ricovero all’ospedale di Siena e successivamente alla Clinica San Raffaele di Milano, una durissima battaglia. Fino al 21 novembre scorso quando arriva la decisione improvvisa, i medici della clinica milanese danno l’ok per il trasferimento nel reparto di neochirurgia di Padova, una volta reputate le sue condizioni stabili. Qui il campione ha continuato il suo percorso di riabilitazione psicomotoria.
Tuttavia non sono molti i dettagli riguardanti le sue condizioni di salute per questioni di privacy e per la ferrea volontà dei suoi familiari di tenerlo al riparo da qualsiasi esposizione mediatica.
Da sempre la famiglia rappresenta la sua grande forza. È grazie alla forza familiare se Zanardi rinacque per la seconda volta, dopo la tragedia tedesca del Lausitzring e se ora è sulla buona strada per mettersi ai blocchi di partenza della sua terza vita. La moglie Daniela e il figlio Niccolò sono sempre lì a lottare con lui, a scandire ogni momento, ogni piccolo passo verso la rinascita. Non hanno mai smesso di crederci.
