La variante inglese del Covid condizionerà la curva del contagio nelle prossime settimane e pare destinata a spingere altre regioni -dopo la Campania- verso la zona rossa, con misure restrittive per arginare la diffusione del coronavirus. E’ il quadro che Roberto Speranza, ministro della Salute, delinea a Mezz’ora in più. “Sulla base dei dati -dice- mi aspetto che nelle prossime settimane l’impatto di questa variante possa far crescere la curva, mi aspetto regioni che possono andare verso la zona rossa. Mi aspetto che le ordinanze possano essere ancora di natura restrittiva”.
“Questo mese è complicato, bisogna dire come stanno le cose. Le varianti del virus hanno prodotto una nuova fase di accelerazione dell’epidemia. Secondo una relazione dell’Iss, la variante inglese riesce a diffondersi con una maggiore velocità, tra il 35 e il 40%, rispetto al ceppo originario. Almeno il 54% dei casi riscontrati in Italia è legato a questa variante”, aggiunge.
“Se ci sono molte più persone contagiate, tenderà a salire anche la curva dei casi severi. Gli studi sulle varianti sono in corso, c’è bisogno di un approfondimento: la scienza non ha la bacchetta magica. In Italia c’è una presenza più bassa di variante brasiliana e abbiamo qualche piccolo segnale di variante sudafricana. Di giorno in giorno compaiono ulteriori varianti che rappresentano una nuova sfida: dobbiamo tenere misure molto rigorose. In Italia oggi abbiamo un’enorme differenziazione tra territori, giorno per giorno monitoriamo la curva e verifichiamo le misure più adeguate”, afferma ancora.
