“La crisi globale non è finita, dobbiamo agire in fretta”, lo dice Mario Draghi al Global Health Summit di Roma, parlando della pandemia. “Noi, in Europa, stiamo iniziando a vedere la fine di questa tragedia. Ma in altri Paesi non è così. Dobbiamo assicurare la disponibilità dei vaccini ai Paesi più poveri”, dice ancora Mario Draghi, parlando delle “enormi diseguaglianze nel mondo” che sta creando la differente disponibilità di vaccini.

“Italia favorevole a sospensione temporanea brevetti”

“Probabilmente avremo bisogno di più cicli di vaccinazione in futuro, e aumentare la produzione è essenziale – spiega ancora il premier -. Una proposta è quella di introdurre una sospensione dei brevetti sui vaccini Covid-19. L’Italia è aperta a questa idea, in modo mirato, limitato nel tempo e che non metta a repentaglio l’incentivo ad innovare per le aziende farmaceutiche. Ma questa proposta non garantisce che i Paesi a basso reddito siano effettivamente in grado di produrre i propri vaccini. Dobbiamo sostenerli finanziariamente e con competenze specializzate”.

“Export Ue 200mln di vaccini, tutti tolgano i blocchi”

Draghi spiega quindi che “l’Ue ha esportato circa 200 milioni di dosi di vaccini Covid-19 in 90 Paesi, circa la metà della sua produzione totale. Tutti gli Stati devono fare lo stesso. Dobbiamo revocare i divieti generali di esportazione soprattutto verso i Paesi più poveri”.
