Dopo due giorni, è morto, trovato senza vita nel soggiorno della sua casa Guildford, nel Surrey, nel sud-est dell’Inghilterra, dalla fidanzata e mamma dei suoi due figli. È successo il primo gennaio scorso: David Warner, 27 anni, era diventato da poco papà per la seconda volta.
All’inizio del mese aveva cominciato ad avvertire dei forti dolori al petto. Arrivato al pronto soccorso, è stato anche sottoposto al test per il Coronavirus, che ha dato esito negativo. Mentre aspettava i risultati, il ragazzo è stato messo in un reparto per curare pazienti positivi, portandolo così a dimettersi per paura che avrebbe preso il virus e che “lo avrebbe trasmesso alla nostra famiglia”, come ha raccontato al quotidiano inglese The Sun la sua partner Vicky Jones, 21 anni.
Ma le sue condizioni non sono migliorate, e dopo soli due giorni dalle dimissioni David è stato trovato senza vita dalla compagna mentre era nel soggiorno della loro abitazione. “È tornato a casa, ha puntato i piedi dicendo che aveva un bambino di sei mesi e che preferiva correre il rischio nonostante i dolori al petto piuttosto che rischiare di infettare la nostra bimba, Evie”.
Il decesso sarebbe stato causato da un arresto cardiaco, ma si attende la conferma dai risultati dell’autopsia. Più di 25.000 pazienti in Inghilterra hanno contratto il Coronavirus in ospedale dall’inizio della seconda ondata di pandemia a settembre. Un paziente su sei con Covid-19 negli ospedali del Paese è stato infettato durante il trattamento per altre problematiche, ed è per questo che David ha preferito tornare a casa piuttosto che aspettare di essere curato.
La famiglia di David ha creato una pagina GoFundMe per raccogliere fondi per il suo funerale. “Tutti quelli che lo conoscevano – si legge – sanno che lui aiutava tutti e non voleva nulla in cambio.
