Bambino La Vita è Bella – A cinque anni ha commosso il mondo interpretando nel film La vita è bella il ruolo di un bambino finito in un campo di concentramento, in un’Europa sconvolta dal virus del razzismo.
Ora di anni Giorgio Cantarini, ne ha 29 e con il mondo stravolto da un altro virus, che da un anno ha messo in pericolo la salute di tutti e distrutto l’economia, l’attore ha deciso di indossare i panni del contact tracer, aiutando l’Asl di Viterbo a tracciare i contatti dei positivi evitando così un’ulteriore espansione del Covid-19.
Il giovane attore viene ancora ricordato come il piccolo Giosuè Orefice, che Roberto Benigni, nei panni del papà, cercava in ogni modo di proteggerlo dall’incubo nazista nel pieno della Shoah. Una pellicola che ha ottenuto tre Premi Oscar e che a quello che all’epoca era un bambino ha fatto vincere lo Young Artist Award.
Da allora Cantarini, mettendo da parte un’altra sua grande passione, quella per lo sport, di strada nel mondo del cinema ne ha fatta tanta e interpretando il figlio di Russel Crowe nel film Il Gladiatore ha potuto godere anche di altri cinque Oscar.
Ha lasciato la sua terra, la provincia di Viterbo, e si è trasferito negli Usa, continuando a collezionare successi. Una vita trascorsa, fino a qualche mese fa, tra New York e Los Angeles. Poi però è arrivata la pandemia, che ha colpito duramente soprattutto gli artisti.
