“Il Regno Unito riferisce che questa variante del coronavirus si trasmette più facilmente ma non ci sono elementi per ritenere che provochi conseguenze più gravi o più decessi“.
L’Organizzazione mondiale della sanità, attraverso le parole dell direttore generale Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, si esprime così sulla nuova variante Covid che sta allarmando in particola l’Europa. “Negli ultimi giorni ci sono stati report relativi ad una variante del coronavirus nel Regno Unito e in Sudafrica. I virus mutano nel corso del tempo, è naturale ed è una cosa prevista. Il Regno Unito riferisce che questa variante si trasmette più facilmente ma non ci sono elementi per ritenere che provochi conseguenze più gravi o più decessi. L’Oms collabora con gli scienziati per capire come questi mutamenti genetici possano condizionare il comportamento del virus”, dice.
“Vaccini sicuri ed efficaci ci danno speranza, ma non autorizzano le persone ad abbassare la guardia ponendo a rischio se stesse e gli altri. Ci sono gruppi che continuano a sostenere che questo virus colpisca solo gli anziani e che possiamo rilassarci con i vaccini in arrivo. Il Covid 19 colpisce bambini e adulti in una serie di modi e può attaccare ogni apparato nell’organismo”, aggiunge.
