Stavolta, con un nuovo post Facebook, Bassetti ha parlato della situazione odierna della pandemia in Italia.

Ho chiesto per mesi di attrezzarci, ma certa stampa ha solo provato a linciarmi e nessuno mi ha ascoltato. Certa stampa e certi colleghi hanno solo tentato di ammazzarmi mediaticamente e di screditarmi.
Un vero scandalo che mi ha fatto molto riflettere sul mio futuro professionale in questo paese. Il mio timore era che la gente, allarmata da una comunicazione schizofrenica fatta di terrorismo e di sensazionalismo, in autunno/inverno potesse riversarsi negli ospedali al primo sintomo influenzale per la paura che gli era stata trasmessa.
Sapevo che questo avrebbe comportato un grave rischio ai fini della propagazione del virus e del sovraccarico per gli ospedali. Oltre ad attrezzarsi, infatti nei mesi estivi andava spiegato alla gente che l’infezione da Covid, nella stragrande maggioranza dei casi, decorre in maniera lieve e si poteva gestire a casa.
Questo non è stato fatto e i risultati si vedono nei nostri ospedali. Si è detto alle persone che il Covid era sempre una malattia devastante, che dava sempre complicazioni perpetue e che buona parte dei contagiati sarebbe finito intubato o morto, così, non appena qualcuno ha un sintomo, corre in ospedale a farsi curare e ricoverare per paura di non avere cure adeguate a casa.
Altro che dirmi (come fa qualcuno in malafede…e sono tanti) che non dovevo dire che la malattia era più gestibile. Che siano loro a farsi un esame di coscienza e a pensare che disastro hanno combinato.
I danni rischiano di essere devastanti. La politica della paura non serve a nessuno.
