Makenzie Gongora muore a 9 anni nel sonno: 3 giorni prima le era stato diagnosticato il Covid

Makenzie Gongora, una bambina di nove anni, è morta nel sonno nello stato staunitense del Texas. La madre l’aveva accompagnata poco prima a letto. La famiglia ha raccontato che la terribile fine è giunta appena tre giorni dopo la diagnosi per positività al Covid, La piccola ha iniziato a sentirsi male dopo una giornata passata a scuola dove frequentava la quarta elementare. Erica Gongora, la zia, ha spiegato:

“Il 29 gennaio Makenzie, mentre si trovava al doposcuola, aveva iniziato ad accusare un fortissimo mal di testa e un altrettanto fastidioso mal di stomaco. Lì le è stata misurata la temperatura, aveva la febbre. A quel punto, la mamma aveva deciso di portarla subito in una clinica per fare il tampone, risultato positivo”.

“I medici avevano consigliato a mia cognata di riportarla a casa e monitorarla costantemente e, in caso di peggioramenti, di portarla immediatamente in ospedale per il ricovero. Il giorno dopo, però, la febbre era sparita, anche se erano sopraggiunti problemi respiratori. Nel complesso, però, Makenzie se la stava cavando bene”.

“Dopo due giorni, però, i sintomi avevano iniziato a manifestarsi sempre di più: Makenzie aveva problemi a respirare e si sentiva sempre più debole. Mia sorella l’aveva messa a letto presto, non si è mai più svegliata. E a rendere tutto più drammatico, è accaduto il 2 febbraio, nel giorno del compleanno del suo papà”, ha proseguito la zia. Drammatico il racconto delle ultime ore.

“Makenzie aveva problemi a respirare e si sentiva sempre più debole– ha detto Erica Gongora – mia sorella l’aveva messa a letto presto, non si è mai più svegliata”.
