“Quest’anno la Befana mi porterà il più bello dei regali: il vaccino anti-Covid-19″. Inizia così un post dell’assessore alla Sanità della Regione Puglia, l’epidemiologo Pierluigi Lopalco, sull’arrivo del vaccino anti Covid anche in Italia.
“E’ ormai certo – scrive – che il 21 dicembre Ema si esprimerà sull’autorizzazione all’utilizzo del vaccino anti-Covid19 di Pfizer. Visto che l’autorità britannica e l’Fda si sono espresse favorevolmente, dubito che Ema abbia un parere diverso sugli stessi dati”. “Quindi – prosegue – già a fine anno avremo qualche dose di vaccino, ma nei primi giorni di gennaio arriveranno i quantitativi per vaccinare le categorie della cosiddetta fase 1: operatori sanitari e anziani ospiti delle strutture residenziali“.
“Una fase importante – rileva – si metteranno subito in sicurezza le fasce più esposte e le più fragili della società. Di seguito, appena nuovi lotti di vaccino saranno disponibili, si vaccineranno gli altri gruppi a rischio”.
E sul vaccino Lopalco aggiunge una riflessione: “Sappiamo già tanto: è estremamente efficace ed ha un profilo di sicurezza molto alto. Non sappiamo ancora quanto durerà la protezione, ma le proiezioni preliminari sono molto incoraggianti”.
“Gli anticorpi indotti dal vaccino – spiega – diminuiscono nel tempo lentamente. Non sappiamo ancora se il vaccino previene anche lo stato di portatore asintomatico, in caso di infezione da parte del virus. Ma anche qui ci sono le prime osservazioni positive. Insomma, gli elementi per confidare nel fatto che la vaccinazione possa mettere la parola fine alla pandemia ci sono tutti. Importante ora non sbagliare”.
Poi conclude: “Serve una strategia comunicativa che unisca efficacia a trasparenza“.
