Crisanti annuncia novità per gli italiani a partire da agosto. Un ritorno alla normalità per fine agosto “è finalmente una previsione realistica” ma è “irrealistico pensare di eliminare” il Sars-cov-2.
Lo ha detto il microbiologo di Padova Andrea Crisanti, intervenendo alla trasmissione Agorà su Rai 3, sottolineando che “ormai siamo entrati nella giostra evolutiva del virus, possiamo solo cercare di inseguirlo come è stato fatto con quello dell’influenza”.
“Per fine agosto inizio settembre – ha precisato – saremo vicino all’immunità di gregge, che non significherà trasmissione bloccata ma che possono essere eliminate alcune restrizioni tenendo l’indice di trasmissione basso”.
Finora, ha sottolineato l’esperto, “siamo riusciti a eliminare un solo patogeno, il vaiolo, e siamo vicini a farlo con la polio ma ci sono voluti decenni e decenni di vaccinazioni. Non è realistico pensare di poter eliminare questo virus, possiamo solo pensare di controllarlo abbattendo la letalità e mantenendo la sorveglianza delle varianti”.
Mentre un calo importante dei decessi, ha precisato, “arriverà quando avremo vaccinato l’85-90% degli over 65enni e avremo raggiunto un equilibrio di accettabilità sociale della malattia”.
Quanto al rapporto tra Governo centrale e periferico ha detto: “le Regioni hanno dimostrato tutta la fragilità di questo sistema, di fronte a un’epidemia che è un problema nazionale non si può fare ognuno come vuole: chi usa i test antigenici e chi i molecolari, chi vaccina dei gruppi e chi altri. E’ un casino senza fine. In Inghilterra o Germania non sarebbe stato possibile”.
Per vaccinare mezzo milione di persone al giorno, ha concluso Crisanti, “in una situazione di drammaticità come questa, bisogna prendere esempio dagli inglesi: unirsi, superare le difficoltà e dopo fare i conti”.
