“Nella prima ondata non avrei mai pensato di avere un vaccino così efficace e così presto. Se questo vaccino (della Pfizer, ndr) sarà approvato il 10 dicembre dalla FDA avremo compiuto un’impresa incredibile, come aver fatto il Ponte sullo Stretto in 3 settimane”, dice il professor Roberto Burioni a Che tempo che fa.
“In futuro tutto questo avrà ricadute molte positive sul trattamento di malattie infettive e tumori. Questa guerra lascerà un avanzamento tecnologico molto importante. Un vaccino senza dati di sicurezza non viene approvato. Ci sono agenzie indipendenti molto severe in generale, nella mia esperienza gli si può rimproverare solo l’eccessiva severità”, prosegue.
“Dire ‘non mi farò il vaccino senza dati sulla sicurezza’, è come dire ‘non guido l’auto senza freni’. L’auto senza freni non la vendono, non la immatricolano. Tutti i farmaci sono approvati da queste organizzazioni”, dice Burioni sul vaccino.
“In generale i vaccini non consentono la trasmissione del virus o comunque la riducono molto“. Nel caso dei vaccini contro il Covid, “lo vedremo col tempo, quando avremo vaccinato le persone. Non posso fare affermazioni perché non ho dati, se verranno confermati i dati sull’efficacia sono molto ottimista su questo aspetto“, conclude.
