Truffa del codice Whatsapp – Attenzione alla truffa del codice su WhatsApp. Ultime notizie su un numero sempre crescente di cittadini sta segnalando in questi giorni la ricezione sul proprio smartphone di sms del tipo “Ciao, ti ho inviato un codice per sbaglio, potresti rimandarmelo?”, che sembrano inviati da utenti presenti all’interno della propria rubrica.
La Polizia Postale, attraverso un comunicato, ha fatto chiarezza sul tema. “Molto spesso gli utenti – si legge nella nota – tratti in inganno dalla presunta conoscenza del mittente, non esitano ad assecondare la richiesta, rispondendo al messaggio, ignari di essere vittime di una truffa”.
“Il codice inviato, infatti, – spiega la Polizia Postale – consente ai cybercriminali di impadronirsi dell’account WhatsApp e di sfruttare il servizio di messaggistica istantanea per compiere ulteriori frodi utilizzando il numero di telefono della vittima, nonché di avere accesso ai contatti salvati nella rubrica, innescando una sorta di ‘catena di Sant’Antonio’. Il profilo WhatsApp dell’utente che ci richiede di inviargli il codice è effettivamente un nostro contatto che a sua volta ha avuto la violazione del suo account, attraverso la stessa condotta fraudolenta -, che sta ormai colpendo migliaia di cittadini in tutta Italia”.
La Polizia Postale e delle Comunicazioni ricorda che “i codici che arrivano per sms sono strettamente personali e non vanno mai condivisi, anche se richiesti da un nostro contatto o da amici e/o familiari, non bisogna mai cliccare su eventuali link presenti negli Sms”.
Ed ancora, “è consigliabile attivare la ‘verifica in due passaggi’ disponibile nell’area ‘impostazioni-account dell’App’ che ci permette di inserire un codice personale a sei cifre, che il sistema ci richiede al primo accesso e per tutte le operazioni di modifica che andremo a effettuare sul nostro profilo”.
“Se siamo caduti nella frode- prosegue la nota – è necessario avvisare subito i nostri contatti di quanto ci è capitato in modo che non diventino potenziali vittime della catena”.
