Italiana uccisa ai Caraibi – L’ha violentata, strangolata e, ancora legata e imbavagliata, chiusa in un frigorifero. È stata uccisa così Claudia Lepore, 59 anni, residente a Santo Domingo ma originaria di Carpi (Modena). A confessare l’omicidio Antonio Lantigua, 46 anni, detto “El Chino”, capomastro che stava costruendo la casa di lei su un terreno acquistato di recente.
Alla radice del delitto una questione di soldi, anche se gli investigatori stanno cercando di capire se nella vicenda siano coinvolti altri due italiani, amici della donna. Mentre l’esecutore materiale è in carcere, nell’indagine sono infatti finiti Ilaria Benati (ai domiciliari) e Jacopo Capasso.
A tirare in ballo gli amici di Lepore, lo stesso assassino che ha fornito diverse versioni sui fatti e inviato un ambiguo sms all’amica della vittima: “Se non mi paghi ti succederà la stessa cosa, ti ammazzo”.

L’omicidio sarebbe avvenuto lunedì sera. Lantigua, dopo aver ucciso l’italiana, ruba in casa tutto quello che può, compresa l’auto con cui scappa. Per tre giorni vaga per i locali dell’isola dove mangia, beve e gioca ai dadi fino a perdere tutto.
Venerdì si costituisce dicendo che ha ucciso per 200mila pesos (tremila euro) su commissione. Sul suo cellulare gli investigatori trovano il messaggio mandato il giorno prima a Benati. Ma in carcere l’omicida cambia versione e racconta di aver assassinato la donna al culmine di una lite.
La storia che raccontano l’amica e Capasso è diversa. Ilaria e Caudia sono amiche da sempre e insieme sono partite da Modena verso i Caraibi per cambiare vita. Arrivate nel 2010 lavorano assieme al B&b “Villa Corazon”, fino al 2016 quando i rapporti s’incrinano e Claudia apre da sola un bar sulla spiaggia.
Di recente, però, le due si erano riappacificate al punto che, quando lo scorso anno Claudia torna in Italia per qualche mese, è l’amica a controllare il cantiere della nuova casa. A gennaio il rientro della vittima e i problemi col capomastro per i lavori forse svolti male.
Martedì Ilaria, che abita vicino, nota l’assenza dell’amica. Inizia la ricerca assieme a Capasso e mercoledì sporgono denuncia. Da qui il ritrovamento del corpo e l’arresto di Lantigua. Benati spiega che l’sms era forse una minaccia del muratore che pretendeva di essere pagato da lei. Anna Lepore, sorella di Claudia, qualche dubbio ce l’ha: «L’ho sentita il 10 gennaio, era felice per la nuova casa, ma un’amica comune mi ha detto che discuteva spesso con Ilaria e che aveva paura».
Obetta Brunetti, nonna di Ilaria, è convinta invece dell’innocenza della nipote: «Non avevano interessi economici in comune o altre ragioni di contrasto, le aveva trovato lei il terreno per la casa».
