E ci risiamo. Dopo la volta dei libri impregnati di sessismo, più volte denunciati e diventati lo spunto per una proposta di legge, e di quelli razzisti, ora rischia di scoppiare il caso del libro a rischio bullismo. A segnalarlo è la professoressa Lala Hu, che insegna marketing all’università Cattolica di Milano, su Twitter. La pagina che contesta, e pubblicata sul social network, riguarda un libro di Giunti (edizioni del Borgo), tratto dal testo per le scuole elementari Leggermente plus, dove si parla di una bambina cinese: nella lista delle cose «che mi piacciono di Lee», elencate dal bambino Duccio nel suo diario, c’è il fatto che «dice ‘glazie, plego’ e anche ‘facciamo plesto’» e che «non si offende mai quando la prendiamo in giro».

«A parte gli stereotipi sui bambini cinesi», fa notare la professoressa Hu, ma «che ne sa @Giuntieditore del trauma dei bambini quando vengono bullizzati»?. Secondo la professoressa, la «presa in giro» viene infatti citata come una sorta di pratica normale, nella vita scolastica quotidiana, e questo, a suo parere, la avallerebbe. Il tweet è stato ampiamente condiviso, e nei commenti la professoressa ha aggiunto: «Non è la prima volta che i testi di didattica per bambini rappresentano una mentalità retrograda, talvolta sessista e razzista. Una causa può essere l’assenza di diversity nel settore editoria. Con questo tipo di narrazione, continueremo a vivere di pregiudizi e discriminazione». Secondo la professoressa, la citazione contiene anche una «sciatteria»: «La trascrizione fonetica di nomi e parole per la Cina continentale è stata modificata durante il secolo scorso, quindi il nome della bambina di questo brano dovrebbe essere Li al posto di Lee».

Ma Stefano Cassanelli, l’editore che ha pubblicato il libro, replica.
«Sono esterrefatto. Ammetto che nel testo ci possano essere stereotipi sulla cultura orientale, ma a quel punto i rilievi andrebbero fatti all’autrice del libro, che è Patrizia Reggiani, che ha scritto ‘Duccio e il mostro della musica telepatica’, edito da Feltrinelli nel 2013, come noi riportiamo correttamente alla fine del brano. Il testo è stato inserito nel volume Leggermente in quanto è il diario di un bambino, e il nostro intento era proporre delle attività sul diario, appunto: estrapoliamo brani di letteratura che possano aiutarci a far comprendere i concetti relativamente ai generi letterari presentati. Ora che qualcuno, decontestualizzando completamente una frase dal resto del brano possa accusarci di fare apologia del bullismo, o di non avere empatia per i bambini bullizzati, come fa la professoressa, per me è inaccettabile e offensivo».
Cassanelli spiega: «Quando ci sono stati casi di testi effettivamente vecchi e discutibili, o quando ci sono stati errori, siamo stati i primi ad ammettere le nostre responsabilità e a intervenire. Ma in questo caso faccio fatica a trovare il problema. Siamo attentissimi ai testi che possano generare obiezioni su questioni di genere, soprattutto, su cui tra l’altro abbiamo delle direttive ministeriali molto chiare. E qui non ci vedo niente che abbia a che fare con il bullismo: tra l’altro, il testo parla di un bambino che è innamorato della bambina cinese, e la racconta con leggerezza da bambino».
Non è il primo caso
La questione purtroppo sta diventando molto delicata negli ultimi tempi. Non è la prima volta che un libro destinato all’apprendimento finisce nel mirino per contenuti poco appropriati. In autunno è stata presentata una proposta di legge da diversi deputati- tra cui Alessandro Fusacchia Lia Quartapelle, Paolo Lattanzio, Laura Boldrini, Alessandra Carbonaro e Lucia Ciampi- che aiuti scuole ed editori a fare fronte comune per contrastare gli stereotipi di genere, e in generale promuovere la diversità nei libri di testo, secondo quanto anche chiesto da anni dall’Unesco.
