Funivia Stresa Mottarone precipita – Ecco quanto emerge dalle parole dei soccorritori su cosa pare non abbia funzionato nel sistema della funivia.

Un «giorno di grande tristezza per tutto il Paese». Così il ministro delle Infrastrutture Giovannini all’indomani della tragedia della funivia del Mottarone ha commentato quanto avvenuto, il drammatico incidente in cui hanno perso la vita 14 persone. Con lui a Stresa il capo della Protezione Civile Curcio. Intanto emerge un altro elemento su quanto avvenuto: il freno di emergenza della cabina della funivia non ha funzionato per cause che saranno da chiarire.

«È un giorno di grande tristezza – ha detto il ministro Giovannini – Il governo è al lavoro sulle cause, siamo vicino alle famiglie delle vittime. È importante che tutti mettano a disposizione i documenti – ha aggiunto -. Dobbiamo evitare che episodi del genere si ripetano». «Ci sono diversi aspetti di questa vicenda che verranno chiariti» ha aggiunto. Il ministro ha sottolineato come ci siano diversi aspetti da chiarire di quanto avvenuto, e ha spiegato che il ministero sin da domenica ha istituto una commissione per chiarire la dinamica di questa tragedia. 

Intanto a Stresa oggi è stato proclamato il lutto cittadino, campane a lutto e serrande dei negozi abbassate in segno di cordoglio. «È stato un giorno terribile, una tragedia immagine, nel 2021 non dovrebbero accadere queste cose» ha commentato il presidente della Camera Roberto Fico. Cordoglio per quanto avvenuto è stato espresso anche dalla Conferenza Episcopale Italiana.

Funivia Stresa Mottarone precipita, i soccorsi: “Il freno di emergenza non ha funzionato”

Tra gli elementi da chiarire nella tragedia della funivia del Mottarone ci sarà anche il motivo per cui non ha funzionato il freno di emergenza. Il responsabile provinciale del Soccorso alpino Matteo Gasparini ha spiegato che oltre alla rottura del cavo rimane da capire perché non si sia attivato il freno di emergenza nella cabina a monte e in quella a valle sì.

Proprio la mancata attivazione del freno ha fatto sì che la cabina dopo la rottura del cavo «abbia preso velocità, iniziando a scendere, finendo così catapultata fuori dai cavi di sostegno».

«Sembrava una scena di guerra – ha raccontato sempre Gasparini – Sono volontario da 25 anni e ne ho viste tante ma mai così. Sono stato anche a Rigopiano ma una situazione così non l’avevo mai vista». E sul freno di emergenza indaga la procura di Verbania. «Il cavo si è tranciato e il sistema di freni di sicurezza non ha funzionato» ha detto il procuratore di Olimpia Bossi.

L’unico sopravvissuto

Intanto resta in prognosi riservata Eitan, il bambino di cinque anni unico sopravvissuto della tragedia. E’ ricoverato all’ospedale Regina Margherita di Torino: «Ha passato una notte tranquilla. Attendiamo le prossime 48 ore, la situazione è critica ma fa ben sperare». «Pregate per nostro nipote» hanno chiesto la zia e i nonni paterni del piccolo.

Ecco, invece, chi sono le vittime di questo tragico evento.
